As a result of the Louisiana Purchase Treaty in 1803, which failed to clearly define the western boundary of Louisiana,
this site became neutral ground for a brief period, ruled not by America or Spain, but by rogues. In 1822, Zachary Taylor established a fort at this site to help America regain control of the region. The site remained an important military post for almost 25 years. Address: 32 Geoghagan Rd. Many LA USA 71449
